I found the internship opening on LinkedIn and applied via BNSF's website. First, I completed a personality assessment and a 100-question assessment with basic math, graph interpretation, and situational questions. About a month later, I had a phone interview focusing on behavioral questions. Another month passed before I was invited to a Hiring Event in Fort Worth, TX. At the event, we attended presentations from company leaders, followed by a department-specific presentation. We also took a difficult reasoning test, though I'm unsure of its impact on the decision. Food was provided. The next day in Fort Worth involved interviews with two people from the mechanical department. A month after that, I received and accepted an internship offer from BNSF.

First, there was a phone interview conducted by an external company. They asked basic questions about me and my leadership abilities, and then some 'tell me about a time when...' questions about difficult experiences, times I had to step up, or times I led a group. After that, I was invited to a Hiring Event in Fort Worth. They flew me down for two days. The first day involved presentations about the company and a personality/problem-solving test. The second day was panel interviews with more in-depth questions about experiences relevant to the position.
