First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BMO Financial Group.
Banker
I had a phone call with the recruiter where he asked some questions about my experience, etc. He then forwarded my application to a branch manager in my area. Then I met with 3 branch managers over Microsoft Teams. All of which they asked similar questions, but more in depth the one over teams. Then a week later I received a call to meet with the branch manager at the location wanting to hire. It went well and seemed to be promising and then said they'd call within the week and let me know either way. I have called, emailed and also called the recruiter and have not received any word. Even if I didn't get the job, the decent thing to do would be to let me know. Since that's what you said you were going to do. So disappointed with the way things conspired. It's been about a month and a half ago I had my first interview in May. It is now August and Ive called 4 times, emailed twice and called the recruiter once and nobody has returned my calls. How do you do that to someone actually interested?
- Could you describe your ideal manager?
Financial Analyst
Received an email from HR to schedule the interview, and I could pick my own time. Had a 15-minute call with the hiring manager. They asked 3 basic behavioral questions and inquired about my programming skills. The salary was acceptable.
- Can you introduce yourself?
- Describe your experience with team collaboration.
- How would you handle a difficult situation?
Senior Financial Analyst
The interview process started with a 45-minute HR screener call, followed by a 1-hour group interview and a 1-hour panel interview. They asked behavioral questions, as well as questions about my experience and education listed on my resume. It seemed like some of the same questions were asked in all three interviews, possibly to check if my answers were consistent. Ultimately, they decided to go with an internal candidate because that person already knew BMO's internal processes.
- Why do you think you are the best person for this job?
- What was something interesting you noticed in our annual report?
