Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BMO Financial Group.
Analyst
HR set up an online interview and then a manager interview followed. During the interview, the senior manager mentioned the team worked like a family and people called each other at midnight to get work done. They said it's not a 9-to-5 job. I knew I wouldn't want this job at all.
- How would you deal with a conflict or a difficult cross-functional partner?
Analyst
The interview had 2 rounds, each lasting about an hour. It was a pretty straightforward process. They asked some technical questions about Excel and SQL, and also some behavioral questions about my previous work experience.
- Could you explain what a vlookup is?
- What can you tell me about macros?
- Can you define inner joins?
Global Markets Analyst
First, there was a brief phone call where I introduced myself and chatted. Then, I had a Zoom meeting with two people who asked about how I think through statistical problems. They adjusted the questions based on what I've done before.
- What makes you interested in global markets?
- Can you tell me about yourself?
- How do you approach statistical questions?
