The interview was scheduled with a couple of days notice. The interviewers were nice, but the interview was quite stiff, mostly asking competency-based questions with only a couple of questions about the job itself. After the interview, I was ghosted and didn't hear back about their decision, so I had to follow up after two weeks. Surprisingly bad practice from such a well-known medical journal!
- Can you share an instance where you introduced a change in your department and detail how it was followed up?

Got an interview invite with a week's notice, but the day before, they told me about a 'test' due by the end of the interview day at the latest, saying it'd only take 1-2 hours. Turns out, doing it well took way more time, which messed up my prep. Totally unfair and a bit rude given people have lives outside work. The interview itself felt stiff and awkward. They stuck to a list of competency questions, which is fine to some extent, but basing the whole thing on them meant you couldn't really see if someone would fit in. The interviewers didn't seem very experienced. Overall, it didn't leave a great impression or make me want to join.
- Can you share an instance where you made an error?
Editor
I was interviewed for an editorial position a while ago and got a call saying I was shortlisted. The interviewer didn't seem very knowledgeable, and they didn't appear to have any standard operating procedures. I decided not to continue because I felt both the team and the company were a few steps below my current workplace.
- Tell me about the standard editorial process.
- Describe the editorial flow.
- Explain your approach to editorial structure.

The whole process was pretty easy and just went straight ahead. I had two stages, and after the second one, I got the offer! It all seemed very organized and they kept me in the loop. The interviewers were nice and professional, which made things feel more relaxed. I was happy with how fast they got back to me with feedback, and honestly, it felt like a good and quick process overall.
- What is your motivation for leaving your present job?
