The interview process was about 4 weeks, rigorous, but fair. I applied on June 28 and heard back from HR on July 2. The first interview was with the People Team on July 3, followed by an interview with my supervisor on July 10. The third interview was with the person temporarily handling the duties of the position on July 12, and the fourth was with the department head on July 23. They extended an offer on the same day. I think the process is lengthy because they really vet candidates to ensure they understand the role. For instance, my resume and interviews showed I enjoy writing content, but each interviewer clarified that the role is more about editing, and they repeatedly confirmed if I was okay with that. They were upfront about aligning my job desires with their employee needs.

The first person I talked to was the recruiter who found me on LinkedIn. They seemed a bit unprepared. They started by giving me basic company info that I could easily find online. They asked about my hourly wage expectations, and when I gave my range, they said it was acceptable but didn't give a specific number. I then asked about the role itself since they hadn't shared much. They knew the work schedule but deferred other questions to the 'hiring manager.' After that, they said they'd go over my resume and asked me to talk about my past roles. Then, they quizzed me on what ACH is and whether I'd used it before. They asked if I had more questions, and I inquired about the next steps in the hiring process. The whole thing wrapped up in about 20 minutes. It felt like I had to lead the interview, which was unexpected. Usually, there's more of a conversation, but this felt one-sided, like they weren't fully engaged.

A recruiter reached out on LinkedIn. We had a 30-minute phone call to chat about the role and see if it was a good match. Then, I had a 30-minute formal interview with the Lead Data Analyst and one of the Data Architects. After that, there was a take-home data project (they were really nice and gave me plenty of time for it!!). Next, I interviewed with two teammates for about 45 minutes. The final interview was with the Director of Analytics.

Went through three interview rounds. Started with a recruiter call, then a phone screen where the interviewer went off on tangents about politics and guns, which was weird. The second interview was more technical, mostly talking about my past work, OOP, and databases. The last interview was with the CTO, but it was hard to schedule, and the interview was super short because he didn't seem to have read my resume and was in a hurry. About a month later, got an email saying no offer.
