Combustion Engineer
I had an HR interview online via MSTeams, after getting an email invitation. The main part of the interview, where the interviewer asked questions and I answered, lasted about 20-30 minutes. After that, the interviewer asked if I had any questions. This part can last as long as the interviewee wants, but usually up to 1 hour.

Content Strategist
This company uses interview stacking and doesn't seem to follow up. I and other local strategists got emails from the hiring manager asking us to apply. After all three of us applied and gave our availability, we got an email saying the position was filled. This seems like a tactic to get more applicants to present a fake narrative to shareholders. Because of this, all local strategists are wary of communications from BlueScope and their team.

Senior Brand Manager
This was a super disappointing interview experience with BlueScope in Sydney. Like others mentioned, they use automated video interviews instead of talking to people. No screening call or any chance to chat with someone before this. So, you're going in totally blind. You can't ask any questions about the job, the company, salary, or anything to see if you even want to move forward. The video 'interview' is you recording yourself answering 6-7 questions. Each answer has a timer, and you don't get much time to read, prep, and answer. Unlike some other places with video interviews, BlueScope doesn't let you rewatch your answer before submitting. This means no do-overs if you run out of time, mess up, or something unexpected happens. That alone makes it way more stressful than it needs to be. Using a timed, one-way video recording as the first step with a potential employer is a big red flag. It totally contradicts the 'people-centric' vibe they talk about on their website. An interview should be a two-way conversation for both sides to learn. Replacing that with a one-way video recording says a lot about how little they probably value you and your time. Some might say this is now a way for companies to get away with discrimination too. It's easy to reject a video anonymously based on sexism, racism, ageism, or other biases. It's a one-way street with no real person involved. There's also a big concern about security and trust. How do we know BlueScope handles the video footage correctly? That it's deleted and not shared inappropriately? Honestly, after doing tons of interviews for 20 years, both as a hiring manager and a candidate, I'd STRONGLY advise against BlueScope's approach.

Process Operator
I applied for a job at bluescope and first had to do an online general assessment test. It had reading comprehension, some math, and puzzles. They give you a link to practice these tests on their website, which I recommend because some questions are hard. It takes about 20 mins for around 15 questions. After that, I had an online interview. They asked about safety, motivation, my 5-year goals, what I know about the company and the job, and some behavioral questions like teamwork and problem-solving. They also asked about my daily procedures, and how I've noticed and handled workplace hazards. They really want to hire good, positive people who get along well with others. The next stage is a group assessment where we'll work together to solve a problem, showing teamwork, problem-solving, idea sharing, cooperation, and listening skills. Good luck!
