I applied online, did a phone screen, then talked to the hiring manager, and finally a panel interview with the hiring manager and some other people from different teams. There was a real lack of transparency and follow-through. After a tough, back-to-back panel interview and another hiring manager interview, they just went silent and sent a generic rejection, which didn't feel fair considering how much time and effort I put into it.

I had a screening call with someone from HR/Talent Acquisition first. Then, I had an online interview on Microsoft Teams with the entire Process Development Team, including current interns. Two team leads asked most of the questions, but everyone got a chance to ask me things. They asked standard interview questions like describing myself, why I want this role, my lab experience, how I handle challenges, tight deadlines, conflict, teamwork (especially in larger teams), what I know about process development, and my goals for the role. They also gave me time to ask them questions.

The process started with a recruiter call to check initial fit, go over benefits, explain next steps, and answer questions. After the hiring manager approved, they scheduled a presentation and about 8 one-on-one meetings with potential team members. The process was okay, and the interviewers were nice and helpful. It was a bit long, but it was good to meet different teams. Scheduling the interviews took a while. What was really unfortunate was the lack of follow-up from TA after the interviews, even though I was told I'd hear back within 2 days. This really gave me a bad impression of the HR department, which is so important for a candidate's first impression of the company.

The interview process was pretty standard, starting with leadership and then moving to the technical team. There were 5 interviews in total spread across a few days. My initial good impression of Bluerock changed after speaking with their senior engineers. They seemed to want an engineer focused on typical domain expertise, which wasn't what the job description suggested. I was asked about developing user interfaces for an electronics engineer role instead of actual electrical engineering topics. I decided not to continue because I prefer hands-on technical implementation in engineering disciplines over writing requirements in spreadsheets and acting like I'm a real engineer.
