Product Manager
This company has a really cool interview process for a place that's all about innovation and the future. It took about two months from when the recruiter first reached out to when I got the final offer. I met some awesome, really genuine people throughout. The interviews are set up so you get to know different teams, talk to the head of HR, some executives, and even have some in-depth chats with the CEO. The recruiting team was on the ball and kept in touch, and I'm wishing the best to everyone there and the product.
- Given you'll be talking with many different teams, how do you see yourself fitting into the company's culture and their overall vision?
- How do you believe AI can be leveraged to make strategic decisions that support the brand's objectives?
- How comfortable are you engaging in numerous conversations with diverse groups within the organization?
Brand Strategist
Talking with Blueocean was great! From the very first touchpoint, the recruiter was really upfront about what to expect in the process and at each stage. After each part, they were quick to set up the next steps and the recruiter was clearly a big supporter of the candidate throughout. The process was a good mix of one-on-one chats and also a test of the skills you'd need for the job. It made me feel confident that I'd be joining a fantastic group of people who had been thoroughly checked out.
- Can you prepare a mock presentation in one week to show what you'd do in this role, given the context and internal resources provided?
Software Engineer
The interview process was pretty standard for a tech role. It kicked off with an initial recruiter screen, followed by an introductory call with the CTO. Then, there was a take-home assignment tailored to your specific area, whether that's front-end, full-stack, or back-end. The final stage was a virtual on-site which included a live coding challenge relevant to your specialty and very practical, a system design question, and questions about your domain knowledge, also specific to front-end, full-stack, or back-end. Everyone I interviewed with was really kind, respectful, and easy to talk to. The recruiters were great at communicating, providing feedback, and were very responsive to my questions and needs.
- What are some typical Software Engineer behavioral questions you might ask?
- Can you describe some culture fit questions?
- Are there any non-typical behavioral questions you ask?
Data Engineer
The interview process was very straightforward, which was greatly appreciated. It began with an HR screen. Following that, there was an interview with the hiring manager (CDS) and a data engineer to assess skills. Then, an interview with a team member/data scientist where we talked about processes. After that, another interview with the CTO and another data scientist which was much more technical. Finally, HR got in touch with an offer.
- Could you describe some limitations when working with S3 buckets?
- In what scenarios would you consider indexing a column?
