It started with a good recruiting screen. Then there were two timed logical reasoning tests, which I found to be a waste of time, and a personal skills assessment, which I thought was helpful. After that, a 'technical interview' based on my skills assessment where I had a casual chat with an employee. I got the sense she wasn't impressed with my skills, and I'm not sure I presented them well due to her questioning. Overall, I felt BlueGranite hires smart people with specific skill sets, and I was hoping they'd be open to training. In the end, it seemed like the role wasn't a fit for me or them, and I felt I could have been screened out earlier.

Behavioral Technical Presentation

It was a good process, with prompt communication. After applying online, I had two phone interviews. The first was with a Director of People, and the second was a technical interview with a Principal. Both were great people, and I learned a lot about the company. Then, I was invited for an in-person interview with the COO. The final step was an interview and presentation with the CEO and COO. They asked me to prepare a 10-minute presentation for this. They said they would offer me the job in the next few days.

Technical Presentation Behavioral Other

This was a really thorough hiring process, definitely slow to hire, and the longest I've ever been through with the most ways they evaluated me - personal, technical, testing, and presentation. First up was a basic phone screen. Then, a timed aptitude test which was tough; it felt more about seeing how I'd work under pressure than getting everything perfect, so I'd advise just guessing if you don't know. The third interview was technical, covering data analyst and engineering basics. I talked with the interviewer about the importance of delivering data engineering as a consultant and was upfront about the tech I wasn't as strong in. After that, I had a culture and background chat with the COO. In that, I got to highlight my experience across different industries, show I get what being a consultant means, and share past successes in data engineering and analysis. The fifth round involved presenting an analytics topic from my experience to both the COO and CEO. They wanted a clear, concise, executive-level presentation showing success. We had a good discussion after my presentation about culture, background, and goals. I felt heard at every stage, but the lack of clear timelines between steps was tough, leaving me waiting anxiously.
