First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Blue Plate Catering.
Event Producer
I had a phone call with HR first, and then I went in for an in-person interview with 4 employees in a round-robin format. Everyone was really nice and easy to talk to. I never really knew when I'd hear back, though. It took over a month for them to tell me they didn't have any openings anymore. I felt like my time was disrespected and wasted.
- Can you tell me about your experience?
Event Coordinator
So I had an HR phone screen first, and then two more in-person interviews where I met with eight people, including coworkers and managers. The HR person was really hard to get in touch with and didn't respond quickly, seemed a bit disorganized. After the final interviews, I waited over a month to hear back, and then they told me they were still looking for other candidates.
- What makes you interested in Blue Plate?
Server
It was easy and they were very nice. I would recommend anyone work there when they are going to college in Chicago. They offered me a job within the week and had me working quickly. You get to pick your own schedule which is really nice and the pay is good.
- Can you tell me about your experience in the service industry?
Catering Assistant
It was just the normal questions you'd get for a job like this. They do a criminal background check and most people end up working there as independent contractors.
- What skills do you think you're good at?
