Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Blue (Illinois).
Account Manager
Had a quick phone interview first. Then they had me come in for an in-person meeting. They were super vague about what the job actually entailed, just kept hyping up 'UNLIMITED POTENTIAL' and '100% Promotion from within'. After that, I did some digging online and found out it's actually DOOR TO DOOR SALES, working 6 days a week, and it's 100% commission. They really should be upfront about what the job really is. I'm an experienced B2B sales pro, and when they offered me the job, I asked if they even read my resume and if they thought someone with my background would be interested in selling door-to-door. They just hung up on me.
- Between security and freedom, which do you think is more important?
Account Manager
The first interview was pretty straightforward. You come in a bit early and fill out an application with other candidates. The HR manager was there, really friendly and outgoing, and I felt like she was watching to see if we were outgoing too. The interview itself covered basic resume questions. They called back that same evening after discussing everyone. The second interview was much more detailed. We went to lunch where they discussed compensation, the office's positions, and what different levels entail. It was a very relaxed and easygoing atmosphere.
- How would you select candidates for your team?
Account Manager
Had a short chat with HR, seemed nice and set up a meeting with the hiring manager. First interview was quick, they wanted to know me beyond my resume and see my first impression. Later that day, got invited for a second interview for that week and went on a job shadow. The person who took me out was cool and the opportunity was exactly what I wanted.
