First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Block Imaging.
Training Manager
The interview process was pretty standard. It included a phone screening and then an in person interview. It felt like the employees had already made up their minds by the time we had met. I wish there had been more transparency regarding pay.
- What's something I didn't ask that you think I should have asked?
Workstation Repair Technician
The interview covered some technical stuff like operating system paradigms, cybersecurity, and scripting. It also really dug into behavioral stuff, asking about how I handle crisis situations, teamwork, and my five-year goals.
- Can you tell me about a time you had to deal with a big change at work? What did you do, and what happened in the end?
- Describe how you handle crisis situations.
- How do you approach working with a team?
Marketing
I did an online application then had a phone interview and later an interview with leadership. Block is a growing mid-size business. The phone interview was quick and a fast response to my application which was nice since some companies take forever. The in-person interview was important to understand the company. I knew from their website many employees share their religious beliefs, which surprised me how much it came up in the interview. The leaders used a lot of buzzwords. I know myself well, but I think new candidates should read the Block Imaging president's blog, as those topics will likely be on the test. While I get the company values culture, I think they might be undervaluing experience and new ideas. I don't recall anyone asking about my past projects or successes that made me qualified. I was also thrown off by inappropriate questions like 'do you have any kids' or 'who will you hang out with this weekend/in your spare time and what do you do'? I think the best candidates will probably be referrals.
- Do you have children?
- What is your community involvement and how do you spend your weekends?
- What's your strategy for improving our SEO?
Customer Service Representative
The interview process was great. It started with a phone interview with one of their HR reps and then an in person interview and then a final interview. The first in person interview was pretty long but I found it extremely beneficial and insightful as all of my questions were answered and I could tell the interviewers were being open and honest with me and wanted to have a conversation rather than an "interview" per se. The last interview I had the chance of meeting one of the companies presidents. I found that refreshing as he was down to earth and was not there to intimidate me.
- What do you consider essential for effective teamwork, and can you elaborate on why?
- How would others describe your teamwork skills?
