First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Blink Fitness.
Receptionist
It was pretty easy, there was a big group interview with a bunch of us candidates. They had us do some role-playing where one person was the customer and the other was the employee, and they gave us a situation to act out.
- How would you convince someone to join the gym if they asked about it?
Copywriter
The interview felt like they had already made up their minds before we even started. The two hiring managers only asked two questions and then seemed ready to wrap things up after just 10 minutes. Honestly, if my resume showed it wasn't a good fit, I wish they would have just cancelled the interview instead.
- Can you tell us about your background and experience?
Personal Trainer
The interview was in person at the Astoria location on Steinway street and it was very quick. They asked usual questions. The HR manager was focused on my resume/CV and more concerned about my access to the facility for scheduling purposes. Pay was low for NYC area. $150 weekly for 3 months walking hours. So 15 hours of paid floor hours only. You need to SELL to make money in this gig.
- How close are you to the facility?
- What days and hours can you commit to working?
Maintenance
First, they look over your application and resume to pick folks they think might be a good fit. Then, they'll give you a quick call to see if you can talk, if you've dealt with customers before, and if you're available. If that goes well, they'll ask you to come in for an interview with the hiring manager and someone from customer service. They'll start by introducing themselves and chatting a bit to make you feel relaxed.
- Can you tell me what your favorite movie is?
