After doing a lot of research about Blast, I sent in my resume because it seemed like a great place for my career goals. The first interview was a phone call, which was a really fun conversation with some basic behavioral questions. Then, I had to create a quality assurance report for one of their clients as a test, even though this was for an hourly role. A few weeks later, I had an in-person interview where we discussed the report I made. It seemed like things went well, and I was expecting a call in the following weeks. After a lot of following up, I was finally offered the job four months later, which is incredibly slow hiring.

The initial interviewer, who runs his own consulting firm in Vancouver, was primarily interested in my salary expectations. He mentioned that the company has had a high turnover in this role previously. The questions were situational, asking for examples of past experiences like 'Share a time when you did...'. When I asked about what success would look like in the first year, their response was very general. This felt like a red flag, making me question how I could meet goals if they weren't clearly defined. It seems to explain why they've struggled to find the right person for this position.

I applied for this job and heard back a few weeks later. I wasn't sure if my technical skills were a good match, but I went ahead with the interview anyway to find out. It turned out I was right about the technical skills not being a fit, so we decided not to move forward, which is what I expected. The interviewer was nice and professional. My main issue was with how the interview was scheduled. I got a short email saying they wanted to talk and would send a tentative invite. Since they didn't offer specific times, we had to go back and forth a few times to reschedule because the initial invite didn't work for me. This was frustrating because it meant more emailing to find a time, which could have been avoided if they had asked me for available times or given me options. I did have to reschedule one more time because I was sick, so I do appreciate them being flexible.

The interview process was pretty simple. First, there was a phone interview, then 2 rounds of in-person interviews. It seems like a nice company that values its culture and how people fit in. The only downside was the wait times, which were multiple weeks between applying and getting interviews.
