First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Blank Street.
Barista
Applied early Feb 2026, after submitting my CV I was invited to a group interview. We did an interactive case simulation, then they asked me questions about my interest in the company and my availability. They said I'd hear back in a week but after 3 weeks, I heard nothing, which was pretty unprofessional and disappointing. They could have at least sent an email update instead of wasting my time.
- Why do you want to work for Blank Street?
- What is your availability?
Barista
It was a behavioral interview where we talked about a lot of things. We covered my attitude, teamwork, values, and my previous experience in the industry. We also discussed my availability, what I expect from the role, and some hypothetical situations involving customers.
- Can you share an example of a difficult situation you've faced and how you handled it?
- Tell me about a time you had to overcome a challenge.
- What's your experience been like working in the coffee/food space before?
Barista
I had a small group interview that lasted about an hour with the hiring manager and the shift leader. It was a friendly and relaxed vibe. We also did a short role-play to see how I'd handle customer interactions. I heard back within a couple of days. This interview made me really want to work there. Since I haven't worked in a coffee shop before, it seems like they cared more about my customer service skills and personality than actual barista experience!
- Could you share some general information about yourself and your preferred working hours?
- How would you approach and manage different customer interactions?
- Show me how you would interact with various customer types.
