First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BlackRock.
Data Operations Analyst
The interview process for the Data Operations Analyst role involved 3 rounds, primarily focusing on Python, SQL, and Snowflake. The initial stages included explaining my projects and answering basic questions about SQL and Python. I was also asked to write SQL queries. All rounds followed a similar procedure, and the atmosphere was quite stressful, with a strong emphasis on SQL and Snowflake.
- Tell me about yourself, your background, and your projects.
- Do you have experience with SQL and Python?
- Can you explain your understanding of SQL and Python?
Operations Analyst
First, there was a recruiter/HR interview where they asked standard behavioral questions. It was pretty easy and they were nice. Then, the actual team you'd be working with interviews you in a separate 'superday' where you have multiple rounds with different people back to back.
- What is your motivation for wanting to join BlackRock?
Operations Analyst
applied to a different role but was shifted to this Operations Analyst one. The process was pretty straightforward. I interviewed with team members: an analyst, a manager, and two directors (one from my team, one from a partner team). They asked me questions about my resume and experience, and threw in a few brain teasers. It went well, and I was told I moved to the next step. The final interview was a bit strange - it was with the Managing Director of that business section, but over the phone instead of in person. It felt more like a casual chat, like they just wanted to make sure they talked to me as part of the hiring process.
