Spring Insight Week
It was quite nice, I answered all the questions but without thorough preparation. I'm pretty sure anyone who prepares would do well in the online interview. It's quite an experience in my job search journey. I wish everyone well in their journey.
- What is it that motivates you the most?
Graduate Analyst
First, there was a HireVue for the initial screen. It had pre-recorded questions, and I had to talk about a stock I'm following and my thoughts on where quant finance is headed. There wasn't a live interviewer, so it was important to have a good structure. I made sure to prepare catalysts, valuation points, and themes like alternative data, ML, and explainability.
- Can you share your perspective on the future of quant finance?
Graduate Analyst
I applied in early September and a few days later got a request to submit a virtual cover letter on HireVue. In late October, I had my first round interview at the SG office. I met with three different groups of interviewers, mostly mid-level management and associates. The questions were mostly about fit, with a few technical ones at the end. I got an offer to proceed to the next round the day after. The second round was scheduled two weeks later and involved meeting with three directors, all of whom asked only fit questions and about the role.
- If you had the choice, would you prefer to be the CEO of Microsoft or Morgan Stanley, and what's your reasoning?
- What are your career aspirations for the next five years?
