First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Black Diamond.
Controls Engineer
The interview process involved discussing my experience with motion controls software, specifically noting that the company uses Rockwell/Allen Bradley, which I have prior experience with. I also mentioned my more recent experience with Beckhoff, and that Controls Engineers can utilize multiple automation platforms. There was a mention of 'Thirty one 2 three' which is unclear.
- How many years have you been working in this field?
Coordinator
I sat in a conference room while managers took turns talking with me. They asked pretty standard questions. Most people were friendly and knew a lot about the job. I felt comfortable going in and leaving. It was one of my better interview experiences.
- Can you tell me about a challenge you faced and how you handled it?
Social Media Coordinator
I applied for a content manager role but didn't get it, though the interview was great - the hiring manager took me for a beer and really got to know me. He wanted to stay in touch. I saw the social coordinator opening, asked him about it, and was put in touch with the digital manager. That interview was also good. It started with email, then a call about the role and my fit. They were planning a digital reboot and asked about my content management, planning, and analytics skills. They liked my out-of-the-box ideas and proactive approach to social media. He was interested in hiring me but had a lot of travel, so it might take time. After about 2 months of no contact, I'd started a new job but still went to the in-person interviews. There were three interviews back-to-back with key marketing people. They focused on how I'd build BD's social presence, the strategy for different channels like Instagram and Twitter, attracting younger viewers, and managing comments. I got an offer but had to decline since I was new in my current role.
- What are some ways you'd manage content creation?
- How do you measure your success in social?
- How would you work to engage the younger audience!
Design Engineer
I had meetings with the management and design teams, totaling three interview groups. They asked some technical and some personal questions. The whole process took 2 months until they made an offer. It felt like the management wasn't sure about the position they needed to fill when they interviewed me.
- Can you tell me about your favorite product from Black Diamond?
