User Experience Designer
Instead of a typical 30-minute recruiter phone screen, their initial step is to email a Word document with a bunch of questions for you to complete. This felt sketchy and impersonal right away. It's a major red flag when a company wants you to spend an hour or more filling out their internal forms before you've even talked to anyone. It's a one-way street where you give them all this info, but you don't get to ask questions or get a sense of their culture.
- How do you keep your UX designs up-to-date, scalable, and focused on users long-term? What frameworks or methods do you use?
MEL Specialist
The interview process is clear and straightforward. The HR officer who contacted me for the phone call was nice. But the technical panel interview was not great. It was a video call with the MEL Specialist. One turned off her camera during the whole interview, she was not patient and you can feel she was too busy doing several stuffs. This is a red flag.
- What makes you want to apply for this job?
- Can you share your experience in this area?
- What are the USAID MEL requirements?
Senior Manager
It was a few rounds of group interviews, and they didn't really have a clear direction. I was really put off by the 7 weeks of parental leave, especially since the company is supposed to be impact-driven and diverse. I don't get how that was seen as a good thing on the initial call. They might not even have to follow state law for parental leave for remote workers. The husband-wife CEO team gave off a really uncomfortable vibe. I wasn't offered a job in the end, but I wouldn't have taken it anyway because the benefits were pretty bad. They wouldn't tell me the salary even when I asked.
- Can you tell me about your strengths and weaknesses?
- What specific skill from the job description are you good at?
- Are you able to pass a drug test?
Agile Project Manager
My second interview experience was really good. They were super friendly and made me feel comfortable. They seemed really interested in my background and wanted to see how my skills fit the role. They were positive and encouraging, so the conversation went well. They answered my questions thoughtfully and gave me good info about the company culture. They were professional and approachable, which made me feel good about sharing my thoughts. I got a really positive impression of the company. It seems like they care about their employees and want a supportive environment. I'm even more excited to join them.
- Can you tell me about your experience with documentation and reporting?
