It was thorough. I interviewed with 5 people from different departments that focus on events, communication, and company values. Everyone was really committed to the company and seemed to stress how important culture is here.

A Senior Recruiter contacted me. I mentioned I haven't been in my current role long and prefer to stay at least a year, and that compensation would need to be attractive for me to consider a move. They inquired about my salary expectations, and I stated I wouldn't consider anything less than $70,000 base. They confirmed this was within their range. The interview process involved a Zoom call with the recruiter, another Zoom call with the department director, a Zoom interview with a senior team member, and a final in-person interview with the 'dojo' lead. After learning more, I decided $75,000 was the minimum acceptable salary, considering the increased workload and frequent travel. However, the offer presented was $65,000 base salary, which was disappointing as I wouldn't have proceeded if I'd known the compensation range earlier. I asked about other compensation forms, but was told only annual merit raises could increase it, with no specific percentage range provided. Ultimately, I declined the offer, feeling it's poor practice to attract candidates with a certain salary figure then offer less. I really liked everyone I interviewed with and was excited about the role, but we couldn't agree on compensation. I'm sharing this in hopes it helps other candidates.

So I had an interview for an events role. The interviewer was nice and asked about my experience, which felt a bit redundant given my resume. We had a casual chat, and I shared my concerns about my previous job. She reassured me and offered proof, but then Nicole told me they were considering an internal candidate. Honestly, I didn't need to know all the details about promoting from within, and it felt like basic HR to not check internal interest before looking externally.
