Dog Walker
The job posting said to just walk in M-F between 10am-2pm for an interview. I showed up on a Thursday and they seemed confused. They put me in a room with about 15-25 dogs of various sizes. They wanted to see if I was comfortable with dogs, and if I'd clean up pee and poop without being asked. An employee was in there with me. I was told to learn the dogs' names fast because they'd test my memory and that calling them by name would make them comfortable. I wasn't wearing the company shirt, so I stood out. The dogs sniffed me a lot, which was fine, but they kept pulling my clothes and putting their mouths on my arm. After that, the supervisor said she wanted to hire me but couldn't because she wasn't the hiring manager. She told me to come back for a second interview on Monday. I did, and it was about 10-20 minutes long. She said she'd call me by Friday after talking to her manager, but I never heard back.
- Can you tell me about your experience working with dogs?
- How comfortable are you around dogs?
- Would you mop up urine without being told to do so?
Manager
It was thorough. I had a face to face with two HR managers, the CEO, and the Founder. There was also a character written test. Communication was smooth. They seemed to really need someone who could comfortably hire and fire staff regularly.
- What is your motivation for seeking employment with our company?
- How do you feel about terminating underperforming employees?
- Is being well-liked a primary goal for you?
Dog Handler
It was super easy. Just get there 15 minutes early to sign some paperwork about your availability. Then they'll have you interact with the dogs to see how you are with them. Don't be freaked out and make an effort to remember the dogs' names 'cause they'll totally ask you about that.
- Do you have any prior experience with dogs?
Dog Handler
They used to conduct group interviews where they would call candidates up, have them meet the dogs, and then have a very brief chat afterwards.
- What are the names of five dogs you can recall?
