Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Birst.
Senior Software Engineer
It was a very formal and decent introduction, the process was transparent, and the interview environment was good. The questions were moderate, and with a good understanding of BI, one should be able to answer them. It was a good combination of theory, practical approach, and real-world scenarios which gave a good opportunity for a healthy discussion.

The hiring process at Birst was quite unprofessional. Initially, they scheduled a phone interview but then missed the call. After apologizing, they rescheduled for about a week later. This conversation went well, and they invited me for an onsite interview with other team members. However, just 10 minutes before the scheduled time, they called to cancel, stating they had already extended an offer to another candidate. My onsite interview was cancelled at the last minute, showing a lack of organization and professionalism. I'd advise confirming your interview details before heading out.
- What would you consider your greatest strength?
Software Engineer
The process was well organized. Started with an online technical quiz, then a coding assignment. After that, there was a technical phone screen, followed by two Skype interviews with team members. Then a Skype interview with the hiring manager. Finally, there were face-to-face interviews with other team members and a personal interview with the MD at Ahmedabad office.
- Questions about data structures and Java Collections framework internals were asked.
- A live coding question on problem solving/algorithms was given during a Skype interview.
- Some general questions about my projects were posed in the final personal interview.
