First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Birla Sun Life Insurance.
Front Desk Executive
I submitted my application, which was like a CV, and then I took an aptitude test. Following that, I had my first personal interview and a technical interview. I attached one copy of my CV to the application form. After the interviews, the interviewer mentioned they would email an aptitude test. Once I completed that exam, the selection process would begin for documentation and the appointment letter. However, I haven't heard back from HR about the aptitude test being sent to my email yet, and I'm still waiting for a response from them.

Investment Analyst
I first reached out to Birla Fixed Income team before my MBA. They gave me materials and a computer to analyze a steel company for three hours. Then I had to present my analysis to the Chief Investment Officer and five other team members. This was around New Years, but they work all the time. They asked some questions, and the team was curious but not stressful. It seemed to go well, but I never heard back, probably because they thought I wanted to do an MBA, which I did. I joined a management program in June. As I was finishing my MBA, I decided to contact Birla again, feeling like the last interview wasn't too bad. This time they were very receptive and told me over the phone they were positive about me. They just needed me to meet the whole team as a formality. I had just returned from an international trip and went to meet them. To my surprise, about 10 people surrounded me and kept asking questions, trying to gauge my interest in Fixed Income versus Equity. It was a bit surprising at first but okay. It went well overall, and I got an offer. The CIO asked me some philosophical questions.
- Tell me about your philosophical views on sociology, capitalism, success, and power.
Operations and Finance Manager
I had a face to face interview. When I arrived, the hr first took my resume. After waiting about 15 min, he came and took me to a room. There, he asked me about myself and if I knew anything about insurance policy and IRDA. Then, he told me about the work I would do during the training period. After that, he asked if I had any questions about the job. That was it. I interviewed at 12:15 PM and got a call at 4:30 PM the same day saying I was selected.
- Tell me about yourself.
- What do you know about IRDA?
Intern
The interview process was very accommodating and knowledge-forward. They were considerate and compassionate, aiming to help and nurture young talent in the industry. I was placed within a buzzing team of talented employees and given a specific role, not just to observe but also to implement and work. I received incentives for good work, although my contributions to daily business weren't significant.
- What single change would you make to the industry if you had the opportunity today?
