The interview process involved four interviews. It started with a phone screen with HR, followed by an assessment. Then, there were interviews with the hiring manager and some cross-functional team members. The interviewers were all very nice and the questions were simple.

Applied online and a few days later got an email to set up a call. The phone interview was quick and painless, with typical questions. Then, I was sent an Excel project to complete within 24 hours. It was fairly simple if you know what you're doing. After that, I had a call to come in the following week and meet with 3 managers. The interviews were super casual, almost too casual, which put me off. One person was googling questions to ask me and reading them off a sheet, saying she'd never done this before. Another interviewer asked analytical math questions totally unrelated to the position. There was also some confusion with the schedule, and I didn't get to meet with the HR lady who set everything up. Overall, it felt unprofessional, almost like a joke. I know it's a startup with faults, but hiring should be more serious.

This interview process was way too long, taking about 3 and a half weeks. I got to the final step, which was an assessment I spent a week on. Then I got an automated email saying they hired someone else. Honestly, it's probably for the best because this company seems unstable and might get bought out soon. Birchbox needs to hire faster, they aren't established like Google or Microsoft.
