Behavioral Technical Case

The company used a recruitment agency, and the process took several months. This wasn't their fault, as their client, Biologique Recherche, was slow to respond. I had two interviews with the agency, submitted names for references, provided documents like diplomas, and took a test. They then submitted my application, and after no response, I called them twice over two months to check on the status. Biologique Recherche finally wanted to meet me urgently. I had to quickly arrange an RTT day off with my employer at the time to travel to their office in Suresnes. The two interviews there, one with HR, went well. A fifth interview was then scheduled with the new CFO. I thought this interview went well, but I heard nothing for several weeks from either Biologique Recherche or their recruitment agency. I ended up calling the agency again, and they seemed surprised I was calling. They informed me I wasn't selected, which isn't the end of the world, but they didn't notify me and wouldn't have if I hadn't called. After five interviews, hours of preparation, and being readily available at their convenience, they completely ghosted me. What a lack of professionalism. But the worst part was the feedback they gave me; while they acknowledged my strengths, the CFO attributed weaknesses to me that I've never been criticized for professionally or personally, which is why I wasn't selected. I'm open to constructive criticism for improvement, especially regarding weaknesses, but the CFO, after an hour-long interview, painted a picture of me to the recruitment agency that doesn't match my personality, even though she was all smiles during the interview. Later, I learned they had made their decision through internal connections, disregarding the recruitment agency entirely (yes, everything gets known... the chosen person started their role while the process and interviews were still ongoing. So thanks for wasting my time and that of other candidates). I'm ultimately glad I don't have to work with this CFO, who seems self-absorbed and gives biased opinions, and even more so that I avoided Biologique Recherche, especially after reading comments on Glassdoor. But the ghosting is intolerable and unacceptable. Biologique Recherche boasts about operating in the luxury sector, but distinction is shown in one's attitude, and professionalism in respect, not by selling expensive face creams.

I had two interviews with a recruitment agency before moving on to the next stage with the HR teams and my potential manager at Biologique Recherche's Suresnes office. The interview went very well. On several occasions, I was told that my profile perfectly matched the expectations for the position, and I clearly felt a strong interest from them. Everything suggested that my application was progressing positively. Wanting to express my motivation and interest, I prepared a thank-you and follow-up email. However, to my great surprise, I received a voice message 24 hours later simply informing me that my profile was not selected, without any explanation or constructive feedback. I find this approach regrettable because it lacks transparency and consideration. Feedback, even brief, would have helped to understand what motivated the decision and to learn from it for the future. It would also have shown respect for the time and involvement of candidates who prepare, travel, and project themselves, especially after such positive feedback during the interview.

I had a really good time during the interview process at Biologique Recherche. I met some great people there - Morgane from HR, Pauline the manager, and the director B.T.O.C. They were all really professional, nice, and paid attention to what I was saying, which made me feel comfortable and appreciated. Talking with them helped me get a better sense of the company's goals and how this job fits in. I'd definitely recommend Biologique Recherche as a place to work and wish them continued success.
