I interviewed 3 times, then got an email saying 'final candidate' and was asked to do a sample project, which was basically an audit and redesign of their homepage. I followed up 5 times over a couple of weeks via email to the recruiter and hiring manager, and LinkedIn, but was ghosted. It felt like a lot to ask for a 'sample project', and asking for a redesign is a red flag because they could use it for free. I'm glad I didn't send them the work because they never responded to set up a meeting to review it. They also recorded one of my interviews without asking, and the recruiter never told me the salary range.

After applying, I got a recruiter call who then set up interviews with the hiring manager and director. I did my research on Binary Defense and read reviews online, noticing both positive and negative feedback, but decided to proceed. During the interview, the Director seemed disengaged and unprofessional, and one of the managers also appeared uninterested, despite asking some basic networking and cybersecurity questions. These questions were fairly standard for anyone with experience in IT and cybersecurity; they also suggested building use cases. Oddly, the Zoom link provided didn't work, so we weren't on camera for most of the interview. Near the end, I asked typical questions about company culture, team size, and role expectations. Then, the Director's demeanor shifted abruptly, and he aggressively asked about my salary expectations and desired shift. This was surprising as I'd already discussed salary and benefits with the recruiter. I mentioned flexibility regarding shifts. He said someone would contact me the following week, but two weeks passed with no contact. I wasn't interested in the role anymore due to the unprofessional, abrasive, and condescending leadership.

Talked with Sales and Sales Engineering leaders. We discussed the MDR market, how to approach the market, and different technologies I've worked with. Also went over presentation skills and how to tailor them for different customers and customer types.

I applied and about 2 weeks later I had a call with HR, then a video interview. I was ghosted after the video interview with no rejection or anything. Proceed with caution.
