First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Big Fish Games.
Lead Software Engineer
Recruiter contacted me after seeing the posting online. The process involved three phone calls, one of which was with the recruiter, followed by an onsite interview. Even though it was for a lead engineer role, they surprisingly didn't ask much about management skills. This made me feel like the company might not prioritize employee development. The recruiter's behavior was strange and made me uncomfortable from the start; they even interrupted interviews while walking around the room.
- Were there any specific general questions asked, or anything unusual?
Software Engineer
The interview process started with a recruiter chat, and then moved to an in-house interview loop. I found the technical interview a bit too rigid. Afterwards, I was told my tech skills weren't quite there, which I suspect was more about the interviewer's personal preferences and my slow progress on some binary tree problems, even though the job wouldn't involve BSTs. The other interviewers were really nice and the team seemed fun. Overall, despite my disappointment with one tech interviewer, I wish I'd performed better but I still have a positive impression of the company.
- Could you write code to describe how an elevator car behaves in different scenarios, such as with one car, multiple cars, or multiple shafts including an express elevator?
Software Engineer
The whole interview process takes a very long time. The hiring manager and interview teams are very nice and friendly. Lots of questions abut CS algorithm and system design. However, the recruiter is the worst I have ever seen. He never answers my question or reply emails, very very rude.
- Can you design games?
