First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BGI Genomics.
Lab Technician
I had an interview where they asked me about my education and if I knew PCR techniques well. They also asked about my main shortcomings, if I had questions for the company, and what my expected salary was. The interview was mostly in English and there were three interviewers.
- What are your main shortcomings?
- What is your expected salary?
Research Assistant
The first part is a HR call, asking basic info about your resume then one round of interview with the department. The whole process was pretty chill and just went over your resume.
- Could you tell us about yourself?
- What makes you want to work at BGI?
Product Manager
The entire interview process spanned two weeks and included three rounds. The HR person gave me a lot of useful information about the company and the job. For the final round, I had to create and deliver a presentation. Everything seemed to go well.
- Can you share some details about your past experience?
- What do you know about BGI's products?
- How do you understand intercultural communication?
Business Development Manager
Recruiter reached out about the role and then set up a virtual interview. During the interview, the panel members didn't turn on their cameras and asked questions in a condescending way. BGI didn't provide any updates or follow-up after the interview.
- Could you walk me through your resume?
- What are your motivations for this position?
