First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at BG Products.
IT Business Analyst
It started with an initial phone call and then a face-to-face meeting. Even though I don't have a degree, just a year of Business Studies in University, I feel my 30+ years of experience should count. I'm ITIL certified for Service Management. When I was at BG, my manager moved to the Shell transition team and he trusted me to work independently with very few escalations needed. Conflicts usually involved getting the necessary resources for weekend upgrades and implementations. I managed to complete several Global projects on time by handling these resources and planning ahead. In my Project Manager role, I gave regular updates to the projects Steering Committee about the status compared to the forecast and any actions needed to stay on track.
- What was your previous salary?
Property Manager
I submitted my resume and they called right away saying they had immediate openings. They had me spend most of the day to go into the city to meet with the director, but it turned out the recruiter was actually in Texas. I went to the interview and thought it went well, and I was expecting to hear back very soon. I followed up for days with calls and messages, but my calls were ignored and I didn't get any further communication. I have a lot of experience and great references, so I can only assume my age might have been a negative factor.
- Can you tell me about your availability and previous work experience?
- Which specific areas within Property Management are you targeting?
- Are you more interested in leasing or management responsibilities?
Finance Analyst
The first round was held on campus. The second round was at their main office in downtown Houston. They put you up in the Magnolia hotel the night before. During the day, you go through 4 rounds of interviewers, each with two people. They all ask their own set of behavioral questions, some of which are kind of dumb. Expect to repeat yourself and have plenty of stories of how you accomplished safety tasks and difficult situations.
- What is your greatest weakness?

- What's the greatest weakness you have?
Marketing Coordinator
The interview process was quick and straightforward. The people I met were kind, making it a good experience overall. They didn't drag it out. I really liked the team and had good conversations with them. The questions weren't anything crazy. I got the call that I got the job about a week later.
- What makes you the best candidate for this role?
- What value do you add to a team?
