The interview process felt unprofessional from the start, with the meeting taking place at a restaurant, which led to some initial difficulty in locating the interviewers. Despite expressing enthusiasm for the role, the company seemed hesitant to hire HVAC certified technicians, citing a tendency for them to leave for other HVAC positions soon after being hired. They indicated a preference for basing hiring decisions on past experiences with other technicians rather than on an individual's current knowledge, which I found counterintuitive as I believed having someone already knowledgeable about rooftop issues would be more beneficial than training someone with no prior experience. Although I was well-qualified, it seemed they decided to look elsewhere.

I applied for the position online, and within about a day, the warehouse manager contacted me about coming in for an interview in Nashville. The interview was pretty laid-back compared to other job interviews I've had. They asked about my previous work history and what I thought about my past jobs. They also covered the usual interview topics like pay, benefits, work hours, and specific job expectations.

First, I had a phone interview with HR, and then another phone interview with the purchasing manager.

I got a voicemail which I returned several times, then someone from the company called a week after. They asked questions but ignored my questions about the Sabbath when I asked if I had anything to ask. Then they called again to schedule with the hiring manager. I asked about a religious accommodation for the Sabbath. He said he'd contact the hiring manager. Another phone call happened. He said he didn't realize field techs had to work Saturdays for sales, so they couldn't offer an exemption. No offer was made.
