The site director talked for about an hour about what the position needs, including a detailed story about the person who had the job before and ways things could be better. After that, I was asked a bunch of behavioral questions to see if I could help fix the production issues.

I was referred by two sales reps, one who used to work in the territory I was interviewing for and another from a different vitamin company with experience in the Natural Foods/Supplements Industry. I sent my resume to both. The former employee, who used to be the National Sales Manager, got back to me to set up a phone call. He mentioned it would be a 45-60 minute "talk". When the call happened, the Southwestern regional manager was also on the line, which I wasn't expecting. The interview was basically me walking them through my resume and experience, job by job. Three business days later, I got an email from HR saying I wasn't a good fit and they were moving on with other candidates. I was surprised by this since I never spoke to HR, and her response felt generic. When I asked for specific feedback on my interview skills, I got more of the same vague response. The former National Sales Manager seemed a bit condescending, especially when I asked what made the company stand out, and he responded dismissively when I asked about the decision timeline, saying "in as long as it takes." I feel I deserved a better chance given my 20 years of sales experience in the natural foods industry and my education. Looking back and seeing other comments, I feel lucky I didn't get the job, as the company seems focused on profit over employees, leading to long hours and mediocre compensation. I'm considering a career change because of this common attitude in the natural foods industry.
