First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bergquist Law Firm.
Lawyer
You'll meet with a few different interviewers, usually three pairs of people. They have a set of questions they all ask, and then each pair will ask you some specific questions too. The whole thing takes about an hour.
- Can you explain a legal concept you know well, as if you were talking to a client?
Legal Associate
So there's two steps involved. First, you'll have a longer interview with a couple of attorneys where they'll ask you about your resume and want you to expand on stuff you've done before. Make sure you're ready to explain why you chose them and this area of law, and also share times you found things tough at previous jobs. The second interview is more laid-back, just to meet more attorneys. I met four attorneys in total, two at a time. It was mostly you asking them questions, so definitely prep a bunch of questions about the company, the role, and so on.
- Could you detail the drafting and preparation process for prior attorneys?
- Why did you choose this particular field of law?
- What sparked your interest in this field of law?
Associate
It was a long interview process. I met with a lot of people from the firm. They were mostly trying to see if I would be a good fit. If they liked me, I might get to meet with Bergquist, assuming he wasn't busy or upset with someone.
- Can you tell me about your past work experience?
- Have you handled car accident cases in your previous roles?
Law Clerk
Had a few rounds of interviews, each with 2-3 attorneys. They asked pretty much the same things each time. It wasn't super conversational, and they threw out questions that felt impossible to prepare for.
- Would you be able to commit to working 55 hours per week as a summer clerk?
