My first interview was with HR. It was quite simple, they asked about my interests and mentioned I'd be connected to hiring managers. Still waiting to hear back.

It was a pretty relaxed process, starting with a chat, then a coding test, and finally an on-site. Overall, it felt super casual. They never got back to me after though. It was nice meeting everyone and the office space was pretty cool.

Applied online and got an email response on July 1st with some basic questions. Had an intro call the next week to get to know each other and ask about work and tech stack. Was asked to complete a programming challenge using react.js and their API within a week. Took about 10 days because I had to learn react first. Submitted the challenge on July 19th and heard back on July 25th that it was submitted to the dev team for review. Was told I'd hear back in a week, but after a week, they said the dev team was out of office. Tried reaching them multiple times with no response. On August 23rd, received an email asking if I completed the code test, which I had submitted a month prior. They scheduled an interview for the next day. During the call, they weren't asking questions but stated they needed someone with experience in their tech stack, which I had mentioned I lacked. They didn't ask about my application, react, Django, python, or any tech from the job profile, but instead asked 2-3 Java questions. It took them 3 weeks and 2 follow-up emails to inform me of their decision. My advice: if you're not interested, please don't screen candidates or at least inform them to avoid wasting their time.

This company was in a real rush to get me in for an interview. I had to use some paid time off to drive downtown Detroit for it. I asked beforehand if the direct supervisor for the job would be there for the interview, and they assured me she would be. But she wasn't. The folks who did interview me seemed really disorganized, out of sync, and just not professional. They barely made eye contact and asked me basic questions that they could've easily found the answers to by reading my resume. After a quick chat with three employees, they sent me off to talk to someone who had nothing to do with the role I applied for. Before I even left the building, I got the strong feeling that I was just one of many people they felt obligated to interview for a job they'd already decided on. What a complete waste of my time. It's a shame.
