- What attracted you to Benjamin Moore?
- Would you consider relocating for this job opportunity?
Chemist
After a brief initial call, I was invited to the company site for an interview with about 3 or 4 technical staff. The interviewers were a mix of making comments like 'you're so well spoken' and asking me very sensitive questions about my last company. They asked me directly about formulations and manufacturing capacities for my previous employer's products. Even when I tried to refer to public info like patents and papers, they kept pushing for a number, asking me to 'just give a range'. There weren't many questions about situational awareness or my problem-solving skills.
- What reactor size does your previous employer typically use for that specific product line?
Intern
The interview process included a recruiter call where they asked about my background, discussed topics from my resume, and inquired about why I'm interested in HSBC and this specific team. They also asked for a self-introduction.
- Could you introduce yourself?
- Can you describe a challenging situation you encountered that impacted others?
Color Consultant
The phone interview with the employer wasn't great. We had a scheduled time but they didn't call me, so I had to reach out. Then, they started by saying I was late and that it's the candidate's job to call. This was weird because usually the recruiter or employer calls first. Anyway, I did the interview and answered everything. When I tried to ask my questions, they didn't seem interested. The worst part was talking about pay; they were really harsh and said my experience didn't match my salary expectations, which felt bad and like they were dismissing my skills. The whole interview was a waste of my time because I prepared a lot, but they were unprofessional. I hope they change how they do interviews. I decided not to do an in-person interview after this.
- Can you describe your experience?
- Would you be available for a flexible work schedule?
- Do you have any plans to enroll in school soon?
