My experience was not great. I applied for a Chief of Staff role, and they told me they were pausing the search and asked if I'd consider an EA role. The interviewer was nice and pleaded with me to interview with the CEO, since they needed someone with my background. I made it clear I wouldn't take a lower-paying job but would meet with the CEO if they were still considering me for CoS. They agreed and set up a second interview. I joined the Zoom call for the CEO interview and waited 15 minutes. I emailed my contact, who then said we needed to reschedule. I understand things happen, so we rescheduled for two days later. A couple of hours before the new interview, the meeting disappeared from my calendar with no notification or explanation. I never heard from them again. I thought about emailing them, but I wasn't interested in working with them anymore, in any capacity. Startups can be hectic, but don't waste people's time when they are seriously looking for their next career move.

The interview process was disorganized. The recruiter never replied and only sent automated template messages. There was a lack of follow-up or clear process. I understand they're a start-up, but it's not cool to keep candidates waiting like that or ghost them.

Started off great. Did the first initial interview, quickly moved on to the case study, then followed with the CEO interview in a matter of a week and a half. After that final interview, it took them well over a month to decide, despite saying they needed to decided pretty urgently. Huge waste of time.

Had three interviews. First was a 30-minute phone chat with the hiring manager. Then a 1-hour Zoom case interview with that same manager. Finally, a 30-minute Zoom interview with Ben, the CEO. The first two interviews went really well. Phone interview questions were about my background and personal experiences. The case interview involved solving practical problems related to the job. The CEO interview was supposed to be a "fit" interview, but instead, he asked SAT-style math questions. This was unexpected and difficult for me, as I would normally ask for accommodations or preparation if I knew the format. The CEO didn't seem to understand and tried to explain the math, which was frustrating. I've never had math be an issue in my career before. It felt like a waste of time that could have been avoided by asking for SAT scores, references, or a math test beforehand. I did ask the CEO about his favorite things about working at Benitago, the company culture he's building, and what others like about it. He just said 'growth' for all of them. Their product focus is on 'Amazon products,' competing aggressively on price in competitive markets, which is a potential red flag if you have experience with various product categories.
