A friend working at the company told me about the role and I applied online. I got a call for a phone interview pretty quickly and the recruiter was nice and informative. Then I came in and interviewed with some managers who seemed good and I think it went well. But then I had to meet the CEO... He was really self-absorbed and didn't seem that interested in me. That's how he apparently always is. Do your research on this company; the CEO is a major problem and it's not a good place to work. My friend is looking to leave too and said many others are.

The office was nice, centrally located, and the people seemed friendly. The interview began with a trivia question: name at least 3 Nobel Prize winners, with the caveat that failure meant the interview was over. This seemed like an intelligence test, but I managed to name three. Next, I was asked to try navigating their internal system to find data. I found some of the requested info. The job description mentioned basic accounting skills, which I have. They then showed me their Quickbooks account and asked me to locate specific data, which I also did. Later, I received an email stating they needed someone with more advanced Quickbooks skills, which wasn't in the original job description. About three weeks later, I saw the same job ad, but now a degree was required. I think they're just education snobs; my experience is more valuable than any degree from 20+ years ago. It was certainly a strange interview.

Standard questions were asked, and the interviewer was really positive and a great advocate for the company's offerings and benefits. They answered all my questions, and it was a positive experience overall. The turn-around was quick, communication was effective, and the conversation flowed easily. They were also flexible with scheduling the phone appointment. Questions focused on my experience and details from the job description.

My interviewer seemed totally uninterested in the company, the role, and me. It was one of the worst interviews I've had. When I asked about growth expectations, she just said 'We are just growing.' I decided to look elsewhere.
