I applied for an Academic Advisor job online. A recruiter, Bridget Cooper, called on Sept 9th to schedule a phone interview for Sept 15th. My first interview was with the Director; it felt like a screening. She seemed to need someone immediately, joking about hiring the next day when I asked about next steps. I sent a thank you note quickly. I didn't hear back, so I emailed Bridget two weeks later, and she sent a standard reply saying someone else got the job. A week after that, I saw the advisor position was posted again.

It was an all-day interview, which is pretty standard for academic jobs, but honestly a bit much for how little they were paying. It felt overly long because there was a lot of repeating from different people asking the same things. HR had me fill out way more than usual, beyond the normal application stuff like references and background checks that other schools do. They even had a special form if you're over 40, which made me wonder a lot. I figured out pretty quickly it wasn't the right job for me, but then I never heard back at all - no call, no email, nothing to say they'd hired someone else. Super unprofessional, especially since I took time off work and rearranged my travel plans. And after all that extra HR paperwork!

I had an initial phone interview and then got an in-person interview. During the in-person interview, I met with team members and management. I was also given a tour of campus and they gave me a lot of info about it. They told me they were still thinking about things a couple weeks later, and then I never heard back.
