Behavioral Presentation

It was a 6 round process with multiple stakeholders involved. They conducted in-depth interviews covering the role and responsibilities. I initially felt there was a good overlap in skills and needs, but later realized it was a false sense of assurance. After two weeks with no response, I followed up and received a generic rejection email without any feedback. This lack of courtesy for a follow-up call after significant time investment felt disrespectful and demeaning.

The hiring process felt slow and bureaucratic. It seemed like no one wanted to take responsibility for making a hiring decision, so they made me go through multiple interview rounds and panels, and then I had to wait for weeks for any kind of update. I guess that's just how things are these days. Looking at employee reviews, this matches my experience with a company that seems to be struggling due to leadership issues and a lack of product differentiation. Glad I don't have to deal with it anymore.

Behavioral Technical Other

The interview started with a phone call with the Marketing Director, covering typical resume walk-through questions. This was followed by an in-person interview at their office in Willis Tower. I met with five people over 2.5 hours: Jon (Marketing Director), the Content Marketing Manager, the Digital Marketing Manager, Jon again, the COO, and a graphic designer. There was also a written assessment where I had to proofread sentences and correct them, and then write a short essay on why I'm the best fit for the role. Everyone was really nice and the office view is amazing. Although I didn't get the job, the COO and Marketing Director contacted me afterwards to say they chose someone else but offered to help with my career search. It was a great experience overall.

Behavioral Other

First, I had a Zoom call with the recruiter from BenchPrep. Before that, I was asked to complete a Word doc with some questions and upload it to a drive. The questions felt really strange and like they hadn't even looked at my resume. One question was "If you are unemployed, share why you left your last position," which I found a bit inappropriate and biased. The recruiter kept asking about why I wasn't employed and seemed put off that I was part of mass layoffs. They didn't seem very interested in talking to me and just asked typical screening questions. Even though I was pretty overqualified, I wanted to learn more about the role and company because I have experience in both EdTech and HRTech. I figured I wouldn't move forward because of my extensive experience, and I was right, getting a generic rejection email. I really didn't like the interview, it felt 'forced,' and I wouldn't recommend BenchPrep based on this experience.
