First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Benchmark Mortgage.
HR Business Partner
The interview process was straightforward. After applying online, I received an email from the recruiter to set up a recruiter screening. During the screening, the recruiter provided details about the role and the team/department dynamics. While the recruiter was very energetic and thorough, the salary range offered didn't align with my expectations.
- Do you have prior experience working within a mortgage servicing environment?
Loan Officer Assistant
All interviews were virtual or over the phone, we had 3 rounds total (1st with branch manager, 2nd with branch team, 3rd with HR). Transparent and kind HR team, onboarding was smooth with tons of company resources to get started.
- What's your reason for leaving your current employer?
Operations
I applied and got a message to schedule a prescreen call pretty quickly. I spoke with a recruiter who was nice and told me about the company and values. It was great. I was told about next steps and to expect updates to schedule the following interviews the next week. But then I got a reply within the hour saying my application is closed because they decided they weren't wanting that position anymore. It left a bad taste in my mouth. They really couldn't have known that earlier? The initial interview was over an hour long just to be told they were scrapping it. I'm not sure if they were honest since I still see the job listed on job boards. I would have preferred they told me they moved on with other candidates if that was the case since 'honesty' is apparently one of their sub-core values.
- Can you walk me through your resume?
- What led to your departure from your prior roles?
Branch Manager
It was a good company with an interesting approach to interviewing. Instead of standard questions, they really wanted to understand who I was and how I operated as a branch manager. We had multiple interviews with all major department heads over an entire day visit.
- Can you tell us about yourself and your personal qualities?
- How do you function in your role as a branch manager?
- Describe your approach to managing your team.
