First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Benchmark Family Services.
Therapeutic Support Specialist
It was a really straightforward interview, almost like they were just explaining the job. They asked a few standard questions relevant to the role, like about managing stress, handling disagreements, and willingness to travel. I liked that it felt more like a chat. The interview was with the director of the office.
- How do you resolve conflicts that might arise between a young person and their foster parents?
TSS
The interview process was easy and only took a few days. I arrived for the interview and the two supervisors were friendly enough. The interview went well, but it definitely seemed like more of a sales pitch and not genuine. I never got a follow-up call after the interview, which I am happy about because I probably would have accepted and been miserable after reading all these reviews.

Licensing Specialist
I was contacted quickly and had an interview the very next day. The director I was supposed to interview with had forgotten about me and was in a meeting with other staff members, with the door open. She asked me to wait outside and said she'd be with me shortly. The meeting discussion was about confidential matters (names and places) but was being discussed loudly, even though the director and staff knew I was right outside the room. After a wait, the director had me follow her to her office, which was very unorganized with stacks of paper everywhere and whiteboards that needed updating. She seemed frazzled and described the job, my duties, and expectations (mainly putting up signs to recruit foster families and conducting trainings), and how much time I'd need to be in the office. She didn't ask typical interview questions; we mostly discussed the job role. I offered some unique ideas for recruiting new foster families, but she said they typically just use signs. She also mentioned she can be a micromanager. This was the final red flag for me. I was offered the job immediately. I asked for time to consider, and ultimately declined because I knew I couldn't work well with a micromanager. This was the last red flag for me.
- Can you tell me a little bit about yourself?
Therapeutic Staff Support
There's a lot of paperwork to get through once you arrive before the interview. You'll need to write a treatment plan or summary based on a given scenario. Make sure to get there early to finish all the paperwork.
