The interview process had three stages. First, there was a motivational part, then it moved to assessing your behavior and how you talk about your experiences. You were asked why you chose Belmond and to talk about Belmond's history up to the present day. Finally, you had to describe a work situation where you had to manage a hitch.

The interview was clear about benefits and salary but not about the job duties. I explained some logistical situations that caused me difficulties at work and there was no positive response, no solution or understanding. I was told that I had to undertake further training trips at my own expense.

My interview process took a while because of my schedule and the hotel's availability. First, I had an interview with the HR Exec. A few days later, I was supposed to have a final interview with the executive panel, but due to some scheduling issues, I ended up interviewing with another HR Assistant and an HR intern instead. I was then rescheduled for the final interview with the executive panel, which was very short, about 10-15 minutes, and felt like a formality. The first interview was pretty structured with specific industry questions and many direct questions about HR policies and Federal regulations. Although the HR Exec led the interview, two other people were observing. We also talked about my salary expectations, my current pay, and my preferred work schedule. They were very open about benefits, potential schedules, and other sensitive topics. The second interview was more relaxed because of the scheduling mix-up. I talked with the HR assistant who was looking for her replacement, and her intern. We went into more detail about my work and personal background and how it could help me improve the HR department and the hotel. We discussed common workplace issues and how I handled them in my past roles. The final interview with the executive panel was very brief. They asked a few questions that had already been covered, and it seemed like a final approval since a decision had likely already been made. I felt encouraged, like the job was practically mine. A few days later, I got an offer letter and a conditional hire letter via email. I then met my future manager to complete paperwork and arrange my orientation.
