IT Representative
It was a pretty straightforward interview, you could probably pass if you have basic knowledge and can understand things. This was without a degree, and the pay was just enough to get by. Mostly a side gig or a job to do before moving on to something else.
- Can you tell me about your previous work experience?
- How committed are you to this position?
- Are you able to perform well when faced with pressure?
Demand Generation Manager
HR hit me up on LinkedIn in early May 2024 for a first chat. Then, I had another interview with two marketing peeps. After that, they sent over this huge take-home assignment with more than 20 questions, which took me like 15 hours to nail. Just a few hours after I presented it, they told me they went with another candidate. It's wild because they're still looking for a Demand Generation Manager, making me think they might be using applicants for free work instead of actually hiring someone.
- How do you decide which projects to work on first?
City Operations Manager
The whole interview process took nearly two months, and I had to chase them for updates multiple times after they said they'd reply within a specific timeframe. The recruiter was great though, very personable and kept in touch well. But communication between them and the hiring manager seemed to be lacking. I got to the final round which involved analyzing a spreadsheet and creating a presentation (a mock monthly report). The instructions had some typos and weren't clear on what to do with the spreadsheet besides analyze it and make a report. They wanted the spreadsheet and the PowerPoint back, so I cleaned it up and organized it, but it ended up being useless by the final interview. This really showed a lack of internal coordination and felt unprofessional for a company I was interviewing with. Like others have mentioned, all the interviewers were white men, which is typical for these kinds of non-entry-level tech startup roles. The main manager I met with twice seemed disengaged and unprepared during the final interview. I was asked to send my documents a few days early, and he claimed he never got them, but another manager present said they should have been in his inbox. This made it clear I wasn't going to be considered, and it was a huge waste of my time. There was also another interviewer who stepped in for a manager who was supposed to be there, but he didn't add much, just asked one standard question that I couldn't answer well because of tech issues (slow internet), and he seemed annoyed that I couldn't hear him clearly.
- Why is it beneficial to live in the same city as the movers?
Software Engineer Apprentice
It was a two step phone interview. The first was with the HR person, Allie OConnell, and it was only behavioral questions. When I passed, she set up a technical phone interview with the project manager. He was also nice and happy to talk with me. This interview turned into what I am currently doing in my project so I described about the project that I am working on and what are the issues and how I came up with them. Then he described about their project and at the end of the conversation he said that I am approved! Pretty easy!
- Tell us why you think you're a good fit for this role.
- Can you walk us through the projects you've completed?
- Describe a challenge you encountered in a project and how you overcame it.
