Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bellco Credit Union.
Teller
So first I had a phone interview, then I went to HQ for an interview with HR. After that, I went to the branch for an interview with the supervisor, and then another interview with the branch manager. Once all those interviews were done, HR called me back to give me the offer and discuss compensation. Right after that, I had to take a drug test within 24 hours.
- How do you handle conflicts with coworkers?
- How do you handle conflicts with customers?
- Can you describe your previous sales experience?
Mortgage Sales Representative
The interview process was really formal and structured. They used scripted questions that the interviewer read out, and it wasn't very personable. All the interviews were in conference rooms or the HR office, so I never got to see the actual work environment. It started with a phone interview with HR, then an in-person interview. The second interview was with a manager, also in person and with scripted questions. Then there was a third interview with another manager.
- Can you share an instance where you encountered a challenging sales scenario?
- Describe a time when you had to deal with a difficult client.
- Tell me about a time you surpassed your sales goals.
Corporate Office Position
This was a really disorganized interview process. Communication was bad from the recruiter right up to the hiring manager. It took way too long, and they got the timing all wrong. Lots of confusion and rescheduling, and I didn't know who I was meeting, what the job was really about, or what the next steps were. It made me question the company's organization and the department. They asked standard questions about skills and past experience.
- Describe an instance where you utilized a specific skill and how you applied it.
- Can you elaborate on your skills as they pertain to this role?
- Tell me about your previous experience that is relevant to this job.
Personal Banker
I went through 4 interviews and felt like they all went great. However, it took 2 weeks after the last one to get a short, impersonal call saying I didn't make it. No reason was given. One of the interviewers yawned the whole time. I heard another person had the same experience: 4 interviews and then rejected. They asked questions that didn't really seem related to the job.
- How would you prioritize if you had one person in front of you, another on the phone, and a third person rushing in who needs to get to a meeting?
