Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bell Nursery.
Merchandiser
It was a super basic interview process. They mainly wanted to check my background for any criminal history. They also asked about my availability and if I had any physical limitations that would stop me from doing the job, like lifting heavy things or standing for a long time in different weather. I got a job offer right away.
- Do you have a criminal record?
- Are you able to bend down and lift up to 50 lbs?
- When can you start working?
Merchandiser
It was a pretty straightforward process, they just asked some basic questions at the beginning to get to know me. I had one phone interview and then a quick in-person chat to check my continued interest in the job.
- What is your availability?
- Do you have any knowledge about plants?
- Where do you see yourself in five years?
Merchandiser
The interview process is pretty involved. You start with a quick phone chat, and then right after that, you have an in-person meeting with the local management team, which includes the Area Manager, District Manager, and Regional Manager. Just a heads-up, they don't really give you the full picture of what the hours are actually like. The job ad says it's full-time, but that's only true for about eight weeks in April and May. The rest of the season, your hours can change a lot, going from just 10 hours (only on Saturdays and Sundays) up to 20 hours.
- Given a scenario, what would be your course of action if it occurred at your store?
