I was contacted by HR. First interview with her went well, it was a bit old-fashioned for a tech company but pleasant and human. Then I had an hour-long Zoom interview with the head of. It went great (or so I thought?), I answered all his questions, he answered mine... the call ran over by 10 mins. At the end, he said he'd get back to me within the week... and then ghosted me! Despite following up, I never got any feedback, not even a simple explanation of what was missing in my application. Not cool when you invest your time and energy.

The HR team was super fast in setting up the phone and in-person interviews. The whole thing, from the first phone chat to getting the offer, wrapped up in just two weeks. They asked interview questions but mixed them into normal chats, which made it feel really relaxed. Make sure you're ready to talk about how your background fits the job and do your homework on the company before you talk to them. Recruiters want to know you've researched them and are excited to talk. Bedrock has a startup vibe, so they're looking for people who show creativity and take initiative. Don't get too stressed about it being an interview; just talk naturally and have fun!

The process kicked off with a recruiter from Quicken Loans contacting me, who then passed me along to a recruiter at Bedrock. While looking into the company, it was clear they were short-staffed and unsure about their needs. It was strange seeing the job posting I applied for on LinkedIn disappear and reappear over a month, even with the job description link leading to the wrong site. But I'm generally pretty chill about things like that. For the interview, I emailed the recruiter a presentation I'd done to showcase some basic research and presentation skills. The presentation was shown during the interviews, even though I'd hoped not to do that, so the 4 interviews ended up just being me walking through the presentation. It was pretty disappointing because I didn't really get to talk about my skills in the 30-minute slots. The interviewers didn't seem super engaged, and while the unexpected presentation was awkward for me, it wasn't as unnerving as the team's apparent uncertainty about what they wanted in a candidate. I'm sure they're nice people, but the team's vibe wasn't exactly... welcoming? After thinking the interviews went okay, I didn't get any kind of follow-up. Usually, I at least get an email saying I'm not moving forward, so the complete silence after spending my time meeting with them felt pretty rude. Overall, I was quite let down by the whole experience. The building was nice, but I'm not convinced about the team. Something felt really off throughout the whole interview process.

I was contacted by a recruiter after submitting my resume and scheduled for a phone interview. The interview happened on time and lasted about half an hour. The recruiter was very helpful, easy to chat with, and quick to respond. It was actually a nice interview, and I got to learn a lot about the company from them. They did mention that the hours can be long, but I'm still very interested. They also shared that the company culture emphasizes growth and promotions.
