It all started with a cold call from a BECU recruiter back in 2016. I wasn't really looking then, but I told them to hit me up later. They did, and I got a little interested in meeting the team. After that, the recruiter was all over me, calls and LinkedIn, like my new best friend. They set up an onsite interview, but I didn't get the interviewer or loop info until super late the night before. The first interview was in this dingy conference room, no windows, no water. The first interviewer explained they'd do situational/behavioral stuff, asked about my background, and then for a tough work situation. They didn't even know who was next. The next two interviewers did the same thing, asked the same question. The third interviewer, who might have been a coworker, asked the same darn question too. I figured they were working off a list and asked if it was on purpose or if they wanted to switch it up. We just chatted after that. He didn't know what to do with me and just walked me out. I drove home wondering if I should've followed up with the recruiter who greeted me, but decided maybe they'd call. Never heard back. Two months later, I heard through the grapevine they'd hired someone. Six months after that, another recruiter contacted me about a similar job. I was busy and didn't reply right away. On the third day, the recruiter called again, asking if I had questions about the job or if I could refer anyone. I said I wasn't interested but would send people their way if I found any good fits. No thank you note, never heard from them again. It wasn't the worst, but BECU recruiters could step up their game. Interviewers should totally coordinate beforehand to know who's interviewing and what questions to ask.

The process was really smooth and quick once my resume got to the right people. It started with an online posting, then I applied on BECU's career page and got a confirmation. About a month later, a BECU recruiter emailed me for a phone interview, which happened the next day. Ten days after that, another phone interview was scheduled, but instead, I was invited for an onsite interview. This onsite interview lasted two hours, with different managers and future colleagues interviewing me each hour. They mostly asked challenging behavioral questions in a friendly and professional setting. My advice is to just be yourself.

So for this job, the first thing was a phone screen with the recruiter. They were really nice and seemed pretty chill. We talked about my past jobs and also some stuff directly related to the role. We also went over the pay, and they asked me what I wanted to make.
