Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bechtel.
Graduate Engineer Trainee
So, first we had a Written MCQ Test that was all about Technical Questions. After that, they shortlisted some candidates for a Group Discussion round. Once we cleared the GD, we had a Technical Interview. And then after clearing the Technical Interview, the HR interview was conducted.
- Tell me about your final year project.
Graduate Engineer Trainee
The interview process included a written test covering core mechanical principles, a group discussion on a random topic where candidates were evaluated on specific parameters, and finally, a technical and HR interview. Questions in the interviews were drawn from my resume and thermal engineering topics.
- Can you introduce yourself and tell me about your background?
- Could you elaborate on the details mentioned in your resume?
- What do you know about thermal engineering?
Graduate Engineer
It was a 2-hour interview with both technical and usual competency questions. The interviewers were the head of HR and the head of Engineering. Questions were based on my CV. Some questions were unexpected because they didn't quite match the job description, but overall it wasn't too hard. There was a bit of confusion because one interviewer would interrupt the other, and so on.
- I was shown an engineering drawing and asked to explain what it was, which would have been easier to prepare for if the job description had been clearer.
