First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Bechtel National.
Intern
The interview process was pretty straightforward and conversational. It felt organized but not too rigid. They got back to me pretty fast. It's a big company, so there are definitely rules, but it seems like a good job.
- Tell me about your experience in this field so far.
Industrial and Design Department
The interview covered most undergraduate course topics, with computer networks being a major focus. While individual experiences varied, everyone was questioned on computer networks and cloud computing.
- Which programming language are you most confident in?
- Tell me about Oops concepts.
- What is your understanding of cloud computing?
Project Controls Engineer
The interview process involved a 30-minute face-to-face interview on campus, which seemed to be the main interview to determine hiring. Following that, there was a phone call with the functional management team. This second call was more of a discussion about the role itself rather than a formal interview, which was a bit confusing. It felt like the first interview was the deciding one, and the second wasn't really an interview.
- Can you share an instance where you had to make a critical decision?
- Have you been involved in creating project schedules previously?
- Could you describe the largest construction project you've worked on?
Procurement and Contracts Intern
My resume was sent in through a good reference, and the interview was done over the phone. They asked about my leadership experience and wanted to learn about me. I asked them as many questions regarding the position i was being interviewed for. After the phone interview, I got a call from them around a week later. They offered me the position and I accepted it. The paperwork was done before the interview, so all I had to do was the drug screening and they gave me the starting date.
- Can you share something about yourself that is not on your resume?
