The interview process dragged on for over six weeks due to poor responsiveness from the company. They initially consider you for a senior role, but then suggest bringing you in at a lower level to pay you less. In the final interview with the CTO, CEO, and Engineering Manager, the CEO asked all the questions, which really shows how the company is run. As an engineer, you'd expect the Engineering Manager or CTO to be asking you questions or be interested in your experience.

I had a great experience interviewing with Beam Impact over 5 rounds. The thoughtful questions and engaging team made for a positive experience. All interviews were remote and done via Zoom.

This was the strangest PM interview ever. The interviewer was late, then jumped straight into preset questions that seemed totally unrelated to the job description and product. I thought the role was more technical (API integration product, B2B2C), but the questions focused on hypothetical marketing and growth for non-software products and a ridesharing B2C product. It felt like they just Googled generic PM interview questions and picked the least relevant ones. The interviewer couldn't answer basic questions about the core product, like the state of its API documentation or the customer onboarding process and how to improve it. I decided to stop the interview there, as I have no idea what's really going on or what kind of PM they actually need. My advice: tailor questions to the actual job or update the job description to match a marketing focus instead of a technical one. Having someone more experienced with the core product, or even an engineering manager if a technical PM is truly desired, could help.

Applied online and then got an email to set up an interview for the same week. I had a 30-minute interview scheduled with a co-founder, but it only lasted 25 minutes. The interviewer seemed really uninterested, was yawning a lot, and appeared to be reading directly from a script. The questions didn't seem to relate to the job or how to succeed in it. They also asked questions without reacting to my previous answers, like they were just reading a script. At the end, when I asked if I had any questions and mentioned I had a few, they only allowed me to ask one before cutting the call short without thanking me or explaining the next steps. It felt super unprofessional and like they didn't value people's time during interviews.
