Beacon Pointe Interview Questions
& Process

It was pretty straightforward. I had two people interviewing me and they asked some basic questions about myself. No difficult technical questions or anything like that. They replied back pretty fast and were really responsive.

There were two rounds for this internship interview, and both took place over Zoom. The first round involved the lead of the internship program, who is a wealth advisor, along with two other wealth advisors. The second round included the same lead from the first round, the managing director, and a senior wealth advisor. Everyone was really friendly and welcoming, which definitely made the whole experience feel less stressful.

So I applied and did this 30-minute assessment, then had three rounds of interviews with two lead planners who seemed to have no clue how to interview or judge if someone was a good fit. They kept asking if I fit the financial planner or associate wealth advisor role, even though my assessment, education, and experience clearly pointed to the financial planner job. It was obvious they didn't want me. Then they sent me to interview with the CEO and advisory team for the associate wealth advisor role. After those interviews, the CEO and advisory team said I was a better fit for the financial planner role. One lead advisor even suggested I focus on the financial planning team, saying the associate wealth advisor role wasn't a good fit. It seemed like neither department wanted me. I got sick of being passed around, so I withdrew my application. Other reasons I backed out were: 1) they had crazy high expectations, like one planner saying a candidate should stay 5 years and 'not make one single mistake.' 2) what they say and do are totally different. For instance, the CEO praised diversity and inclusion for half the interview while texting and working on her computer the whole time. 3) When I asked what made Beacon Pointe stand out, the head of the advisory team gave a rehearsed speech about 'comprehensive financial planning,' which is basically what every firm claims now, so it's not a real value proposition. Beacon Pointe is a bad firm, and I'm a good candidate, so I'm out.

I had my interview at this really small firm, just one office, but it felt super welcoming. I went in for the first interview and met with the Recruiter/V.P. After that, they sent me to another room where I talked with a current Analyst and one of the directors.
